🏖️ About the Spring Break Boys: 11 years in the making and after 5 different tournament formats… Austin Harrington aka Stinzy Spieth and Sammy ‘JT’ Warner are finally teammates. An announcement that created shockwaves across Selection Spiethday as “Shams got hacked” started trending, Joe Lunardi was in shambles, and it even caused Invy veteran Ryan Bradley to contact his lawyer for clarification on if this is even legal (litigation is currently pending).
There was initial speculation of chemistry between the 2, but a deeper dive helps remove doubt there as they’ve played together countless times in non-Spieth Invy tournaments and have once recorded an unofficial 61 (-11) 18-hole score in a 2-man scramble at Little Crow. Nonetheless, we all know the Invy is built different. My question is who will putt first?
Stix is seeking his 2nd ever title and Warny is reportedly fully recovered from his jello-shot syringe caused broken nose + concussion received from his Brother last summer in Florida.
Joining them is the fearless Jimmy ‘Fowler’ Farrow who brings grit to the squad (Invy veterans all remember him battling through a recently torn Achilles helping Lindy’s Luck take the title in 2022). Farrow also cyfted his way to a ring the following year when he Captained the Back-9 Bandits. Farrows pedigree and demeanor at the Spieth are not to be taken lightly.
And to round out the squad, we have last year’s MIP Runner-Up Chaka ‘Smiley’ Nichols. Chaka, the 3-time winner of the ‘Spicer’s Strongest Man’ award, rounds out this high-octane unit.
This is the most unique team of 4 we’ve ever seen at the Invy, and there is sure to be fireworks on the beach. Worth noting the Committee is also in current negotiations on whether we force them to play barefoot or not. What a fitting team name for the spring break boys, an OG group of friends, the perfect example of the SB2K16 crew.

🪖 About the '11 Nation Army: With Frank Bass rumored to be the Team Mascot for this squad, they come in with a lot of camaraderie. From the rink of Pagel, the hardwood of Hedstrom Arena, and the gridiron of Einer Anderson stadium, this army of Skippers is ready to make a splash.
Lieutenant Latzke and Sergeant Schutt are both recent last place recipients who have never reached the title game, however after 4 years in a row of speculation on them teaming up, it’s finally happened. Maybe joining forces is exactly what they needed to earn their Medals of Honor via a championship ring.
Joining them is the reigning MIP Adam Field Marshall Fredericks and former MIP Marshall Mitch Ebenreiter. These 2 bring some recent success as the Freds hoisted the title last year and Mebo was a staple during the Green Jackets F4 run. This is also the first squad in history with 3 former Most Improved recipients, as Latzke was the inaugural co-winner of the award with Nick Boyce back in 2021.
Questions loom on if their ceiling is high enough to compete with the alphas at the INVY, but don’t be surprised if you hear echoes of the Seven Nation Army chant get going out on Oaks late into late-Saturday afternoon

🛼 About Miami Slice: Cullen McNeill’s fade is as pure to watch as a Dolphin swimming upstream. Jake Booden brings the Heat with both a fastball and his driver. Kyle Dalton’s 4-iron goes as far as Marlin did to find Nemo, and Adam Schroeder’s improvement since his Rookie year has created the waves of a Hurricane.
Overall, this squad has as much power as any team in the field. Captain Cullen is looking to lead by example as he is the only former winner of the bunch, but KD and Shradz come in highly motivated after squaring off in last year’s toilet bowl. To round out the team after taking a year off to pitch for the Savannah Bananas, Boods is back!
Booden and Dalton are the only 2 players on this team to have previously played together, during House Pargaryen’s final 4 run in 2023. However 3 of them also have the Carver chem and they’re looking to transfer their talent from the diamond to the links.
If they can find the consistency, don’t be surprised if you hear Pitbull being blasted all night on Saturday at Zorbaz.

💣 About the Bomb Squad: If Spring Break is the most unique field in Invy history, this team is a close 2nd. They say you’re only as strong as your weakest link, and they simply don’t have one. A matchup nightmare for many other teams in the field, this squad brings “depth” to a whole new level.
The Laporte-Prochno duo was electric last year, helping Rookie Fowlers reach the title game, and Trow has gone from “the guy who duffed his 3-wood on his first Spieth tee-shot ever” to one of the most underrated players in the field with his breakout performance last year for the Spicer Green Jackets.
Rounding out the squad is Captain Shotwell, who after a tough debut getting last place for Feelin Cocky in 2023, grinded in his typical offseason regime of catches passes from NFL Quarterbacks, and played well as a staple for Sunday Red last year.
This is the only team in the field that consists of every player making last year’s Final 4. They’re a sneaky wildcard squad to watch out for.

🥊 About Tee-KO: Rocky Balboa, Adonis Creed, Andrew Weber. 3 of my personal favorite fighters who become absolute dogs when the lights are brightest and people count them out.
Last year’s MVP has the connection to Chubbs from his Happy Chillmore days as well as Apollo Creed now and he’s aiming to become the first repeat-recipient of the award since Warner did in ‘19 & ‘20 (but would be the first of the Modern era). He pairs up with his self-proclaimed “Biggest rival at the Spieth” Bryce Tyson Tuma. A very strong 1-2 “punch” of a duo.
Joining those 2 is the heavy favorite for ROY Pedro Lerma who is trying to emerge onto the scene similar to the Paul Brothers, and the Milk-Man Mark Mayweather LaPointe who seems to always be in consideration for MIP year after year. This duo in particular is aiming to destroy the stigma that ‘Nice guys finish last’.
Sydney Thomas and Sydney Sweeney are rumored to be the ring-side girls for this squad, and the current Vegas prop bet of Duder bringing one of them home is sitting at +5000 odds.
They enter INVY 11 as a definite team to watch out for.

While the obvious duo to talk about here is the brothers of Mario Gabe and Nick Luigi who are playing together for the first time and have been leveling up consistently (both former MIP winners) year over year in the recent past, arguably more than any other 2 players in the entire field.
Meanwhile, don't sleep on the other duo of Wario Todd and Waluigi Z. These 2 brought the Golden hammer in their Spieth debut 2 years ago with the record score of -6 in a Friday match.
This squad will look to keep their % Damage numbers as low as their Golf scores as they take their talents from the Star Fox Corneria ship to Little Crow.
If they can control Red shells off the tee as opposed to the unpredictable Green shells and avoid Bowser-Bogeys, watch out.

OG Spiether’s will recall Seamus Devine emerged on the scene for “Team Ireland” back in 2020 and won ROY along with a title in the pre-modern era of the tournament. Since then he’s only added to that resume with 2 more rings, most recently as a member of the reigning Marlboro Freds. O’Ryan Bradley has a similar resume with multiple titles in the early INVY days including an MVP at the 2nd Invy, and he’s aiming to get back on the Carrantuohill Mountaintop.
David O’Doyle dons the C on his chest, and last year’s Rookie Joe Finnegan-Ford rounds out the squad. While neither of these 2 have any titles to their name, both have been Runner-ups in the past. Overall the experience for these lads is strong.

💪 About Globo Gym: *siri - play All I Do is Win*
That’s Matt Galloway for you. His resume (3 rings in his 4 years at the Invy) speaks for itself so let’s talk about his teammates.
Kevin Sampson who earns his first Captain status (congrats Kev!) currently holds the course record at Pioneer Creek. He’ll be looking to replicate that success at Little Crow as he pairs up with the former Rookie of the Year Cam Posey who will be separate from his Partner in Crime Jimmy Farrow for the first time. If this were real Dodgeball Cam might be my MVP pick the way he evaded Cornerbacks during his time at Purdue. He is no slouch on the golf course either though with 2 rings to his name in addition to the ROY award.
Duder Haines AKA Tann-Fran Stalinovskovichdavidovitchsky is the X-Factor for this Globo gym team. He’s hoping to help his squad take down the rest of the Average Joe’s in the field.
If you can dodge a wrench, you can hit a ball.
→ 3 nine-hole matches & 1 nine-hole team scramble
10 points possible for each match
1 point per hole won
1/2 point per hole halved
0 points for losing a hole
1 point for the match-winner
1/2 point for a tied match.
→ Record both the points and score on the scorecard.
→ You are able to concede putts to opponents (say that’s good if putt is close my goodness).
1 point for birdie 🦜
2 points for eagle 🦅
→ In the 4-person scramble, if you have missed your birdie shot, pick up and move on to the next hole.
→ Standard match play, both teams will split into pairs of two.
→ NEW: Your team is playing two individual 2-person scramble matches, versus the opposing 2 players you're paired with.
→ The aggregate total of up or down between the two matches will determine the winner.
→ If you win a hole you are 1UP, if you lose a hole you are 1DN.
→ Tied holes are a push; there is no carry-over.
→ Team that is up at the end of the 9 holes is the match-winner.
→ If tied after the ninth hole, there will be sudden-death playoff holes.
→ Both teammates are allowed one club length, no closer to the hole, from the original spot of the ball (with exception to the green and hazards).
→ Both players can “fluff” to a preferred lie, as long as it is within a club length of the original position.
→ If a ball is in the rough, sand, or fairway, both shots must be hit from the original type of playing ground.
→ Red and Yellow staked areas are hazards. The player who hit the ball into the hazard must play the ball as it lies, no fluff. Teammate is allowed one scorecard length, no closer to the hole.
→ All out of bounds will be played as lateral hazard (one penalty stroke). You may NOT play a ball in white stakes.
The horse race is a wagering contest: you pick which team you think will win The Invy. The total prize pool, already collected in the entry fee, stands at $2,400 this year ($1,800 for the winner pool & $600 for the loser pool). If you choose the correct team, you split the pot with anyone else who chose correctly. The buy-in entitles each person to two team choices for the winner of the Spieth and one choice for the loser of the Spieth. Choose wisely.
Mr. Andrew Weber will be in charge of picks after the opening ceremony.
